The method of elimination is a mathematical technique for solving systems of linear equations. The strategy is to use addition or subtraction (sometimes with the help of multiplication) to combine equations to eliminate one (or more) of the variables and reduce the problem to a single variable. Once one of the variables in a system is found, it is then substituted into the system to solve for the remaining variables.
